Great upgrade from the 3 ton. To the 8 ton way cheaper then harbor freight

Made my cherry picker work again. The old ram was heavier and slower and wouldn't stay up. Should have taken the plunge a long time ago. It appears that the oil in this ram is lighter, so it reacts quicker. Lowers faster and you can pull the arm on the crane up to speed things up. Very happy with this purchase.

These cylinders are great up until they are almost at the top of their stroke. They can handle the 8 tons they are rated for but not at the top of stroke, the last few inches the shaft and the outer casing are able to tilt so they are not inline and this causes large sideways forces . In my application we were at 6 tons for this corner and at the top of the stroke the piston shaft bent . I think vevor should limit the stroke length about 2 inches /50mm so it can carry the full load through its whole stroke. Luckily i bought a extra just in case and it turns out it was a good call. Otherwise great product , one nice touch would be having a pressure gauge on the side that shows how many tons the piston is putting out.

I bought this ram to replace an old jack with leaky seals in my engine hoist. The old jack had issues pumping up, but held its position indefinitely. I have had to have multiple Vevor rams as replacements, both with the same failure mode. The first new Vevor jack I got pumped up fine, but would quickly loose its pressure/position over a few hours time. Vevor sent me a replacement second ram, after a bit of back and forth with their technical support team. Unfortunately, the second ram has the exact same failure mode. Not matter how hard I tighten the hydraulic bleed valve, these rams will lose their position over just a relatively short period of time. It works okay to pick up an engine in the hoist, but I do not trust it to maintain that position for more then a few minutes, it will drop slowly with no load, I would not trust it unsupervised with a load. I've attempted to talk to a real person in the technical team, without success. I would like to know how to fix this as I have little confidence a third unit would be any different.
