I purchased this to locate an underground power line feeding our shed. I didn’t read the instructions at first and after an hour of trying, thought it was garbage. After reading the instructions, I drove a metal strike in the ground for the ground connection and easily found the *VOID* in the signal. The line was directly 18” below with pin-point accuracy!

Overall I was happy with this product. Easybyo use and did exactly what it says.

I should have figured this out in advance. Only insulated wires that are not grounded can be traced.

Works good for tracing my old landscaping wire that was installed prior to moving in. The transmitter eats 9 volt batteries like they are nothing. within 2 days of about maybe 4 hours use total, the indicator started blinking. It still traces, but I'll probably go through a few batteries before this is all over. Other than that, just gotta get used to how the signals come and go as you get to junctions, or cuts in wire, etc. Kind of an artform so to speak. Once you get used to how the sounds change and sensitivity affects tracing, works pretty good. DOES NOT COME WITH A GROUND STAKE or something to use for an earth ground. I used an old metal camping stake.

One battery was dead, so still haven't used yet. Another trip to store first. Not a big deal. Maybe use Duracell.

Works great for tracing wire from irrigation controllers to zone valves. I’ve used this for several jobs and have not been disappointed.

I bought this to trace wiring for my home's irrigation system. Approximately 100 feet from the signal injection point, I was no longer able to trace the wire. The wire is intact (based on continuity testing). so that isn't the problem. The wiring in this system is less than 18 inches down, so that isn't the problem. I checked several other wires where I knew exactly where they ran and they all checked out. So, it appears it can only detect wires if you already know where they are. Very disappointing.

Followed instructions. I really wanted this item to work. In the digital mode, it triggered all over and could not get a consistent fix at all.
