I bought this because I figured why not for the price, I will give it a shot for the project I have. Easy set up all you have to do is attach the handles. Started right up on the first couple of pulls. I used it on my property for digging holes for deer blind posts. We haven’t had any substantial rain in months, and this auger still managed to easily dig through the dirt. We did hit some clay, had to add some water in a hole and let it sit and the auger kept going. luckily for us we didn’t hit any major roots or rocks, but it did not have a problem breaking through small roots. I will definitely find lots of uses for this around my property.

Upgraded to the larger engine because it was on sale, glad I did. It works great in ground with rocks and roots, enough torque to break through it. I’d recommend getting the unit with the larger 10 or 12 inch auger. If I had the holes would offer little more forgiveness on fence posts. I didn’t get each one dead center in line or perfectly plumb. Had to dig them out with a shovel, larger diameter would’ve offered enough forgiveness to avoid that. Used Less than one tank of gas for 40 post holes.

Drilled 19-10inch holes in what I would say is probably some of the driest hardest clay that God’s created and sure it’s struggled a little bit, but once it broke through the hard clay and got down to moisture Soil, it did very well . Would definitely advise two people running. The machine would make it a lot easier, but I didn’t have that option. After easy assembly I put fuel in it primed it 4 times and it started on 3 rd pull. And always started right up during using.

Very good for soft to medium soil and loose clay. Underpowered for tough clay, rocks and roots. You can also buy generic extension rods to make deeper 4' of 5' holes.

J'ai pose une clôture rigide de 1,25 de haut avec des poteaux de 1,70 les trous avec avec la tarière que du bonheur sur terre dure avec des racines et memes des cailloux quand on arrive sur des cailloux faut la tenir mais que du bonheur de forer avec cette machine.

Works great hit a few potatoe sized stones hold on, beware it'll rip your arms off. Surprisingly went down 32 inches all i needed.

This thing is a powerhouse! It took less time to drill 5 holes,36" deep, as it did for me to dig half of one! Money well spent!
