Been very happy with 5" portable band saw, I have bolted it to a metal plate and use it as a fixed metal cutting bandsaw.

Cutting brass musical instrument tubing produces perfect ends that maintain the bore geometry critical for proper sound. The slowest speed setting allows delicate control when working with thin-walled brass, though supporting the workpiece properly remains essential to prevent crushing.

The blade change system works flawlessly with gloves on, a thoughtful design feature for winter work. However, the release lever requires enough force that users with weaker hand strength might struggle during frequent blade changes in production environments.

Not a bad saw for the price. I bought this for a specific project, building a oilfield pipe/sucker-rod fence. The saw easily cut through the 2 7/8" oilfield pipe with the blade it came with. The included 4amp battery would would last through 6 or so saddle cuts before running out. This saw is compatible with Makita batteries, which is why chose it so no issues there. My partner has a Milwaukee deep cut saw and there is a noticeable difference between these saws. The Milwaukee is lighter, a tad smaller and much more powerful, but its also 2-3X the cost. If anyone asked me which to get, I would tell them to spend the extra money, but I don't regret buying this one. It served its purpose, just made my arms a little more tired.

The balanced weight distribution makes vertical cutting comfortable, though the handle angle could be improved for such positions. Adding a secondary handle attachment point would enhance control when making precision cuts in this orientation.

Cutting cast aluminum engine blocks produces remarkably clean surfaces at the separation lines. The variable speed allows optimal cutting rates for different sections, though I recommend frequent blade cleaning when cutting through areas with embedded steel sleeves.

The battery compartment seal effectively prevents dust ingress during heavy use, unlike some competitors' models where debris causes connection issues. After months on construction sites, the contacts remain clean without requiring special maintenance beyond occasional blowing out.

The bright LED light actually improves cutting accuracy by eliminating shadows that can cause misalignment. After using the saw extensively, I find the light's positioning perfect - it illuminates the cut line without creating glare or reflections that could obscure the mark.

The saw seems really good quality and the blade is easy to install and everything about it is great especially for the price but during shipping the plastic cover that covers the blade has little tabs on it that lock it together and two of them are busted off so even with the single screw that holds it on the saw there’s a gap on the bottom. The blade is still covered but I can see with use eventually the gap is going to catch on something and break the cover off. Otherwise I’d give it 5 stars.
